The Impacts of Quality Windows on Your Home’s Value

What Are the Impacts of Quality Windows on Your Home’s Value?

We, as Atlanta natives, sometimes forget what it’s like coming to our city. It’s big, daunting, and diverse, and that can totally overwhelm the average newcomer. Add on top of that, one in four are first-time homebuyers, and bam, that’s a recipe for this newbie getting completely overrun and lost. So, what can you do as a homeowner looking to sell and stand out in the market? You implement the things that homebuyers are looking for: enhanced aesthetics, energy efficiency, and high quality. One of the best ways to hit a 3-in-1 is upgrading your windows.

Why Windows Matter in Atlanta’s Real Estate Market

We all know that the real estate market is competitive. Atlanta’s is no exception, throw in the variety of home options, and buyers become a kid in a candy store. However, even with all the options, not many homes will have everything they’re looking for. So, top priorities become: “Does this home look good?” and “Is this home easy to maintain(both financially and physically)?” Windows are significant contributors to these questions.

Old windows can lower curb appeal. They are more likely to be damaged. Damage leads to what it’ll take to get them fixed. That leads to a lot of work. Then you’ve lost ‘em. Replacing your old windows with a good-quality upgrade can and will increase your return on investment(ROI) from 60% to 80%. Additionally, making sure that you include energy-efficient packages such as Low-E glass or double(or triple) glazing can provide up to a 30% reduction in energy loss. This is a huge selling point! Homebuyers are asking more and more about utility costs.

Why Quality Matters: The Benefits of High-Performance Windows

When you think of the grand scheme of your home, and you think about the important things, there are a few that come to mind first. Roof. Siding. Structural Integrity. Water Damage. Mold. All of these things are important, all huge features to check in on. Windows, though, are considered to be a relatively small feature. They typically slide down on the list of importance for a lot of people. However, eyes are a relatively small feature on your face, and they’re pretty important. If your eyes aren’t working properly- things are blurry, there’s a black spot, etc. You’re getting that checked out and fixed ASAP. The same should be for your windows. Upgrading your windows produces a whole range of benefits, such as:

  • Energy Efficiency

    • When you upgrade to newer windows, they include better technologies designed to better insulate your home. When there is less temperature transference, air leakage, and other energy inefficiencies, your HVAC system doesn’t have to work as hard. This lowers your energy bills, but also saves you from having to replace that unit sooner than expected. All great selling points, especially for those Atlanta summers.
  • Durability

    • Low-quality windows need to be replaced more often than high-quality windows. Older windows, especially wood-framed windows, require more maintenance. Whereas newer windows, especially vinyl, are long-lasting and easy to care for. This helps potential buyers plan for the future, since they’re not worried about immediate repairs or the dreaded regrind, repaint, reseal.
  • Noise Reductions

    • This can be notably helpful in the busier parts of Atlanta. As home to one of the busiest airports in the world, keeping your home as peaceful as possible is also a huge benefit. Noise pollution is a thing, and an important factor to consider when selling your home. If you can keep the sound level down from traffic, construction, airplanes, and such with windows, why wouldn’t you?
  • Aesthetic Appeal

    • Everyone knows the importance of a good first impression. You practice that handshake. You pick out the right outfit. Windows can make or break a potential buyer’s first impression of your home. If your windows look old and dirty… they’ll need some convincing. If your windows are clean, they fit the architectural style of your home, and overall make your home look newer… they’ll be more excited.

Why Window Source of Atlanta?

  • Superior Materials

    • All of our windows are crafted from high-grade virgin vinyl. This material is known for its extraordinary strength, durability, and longevity. Lower-quality materials are more likely to warp, rot, peel, fade, and crack. But our windows are made to resist all of this, ensuring that they last as long as possible.
  • Energy-Efficient Technology

    • Every one of our windows is constructed with a multi-chambered master frame. Both the master-frame(the part that doesn’t move) and the sashes(the part that does move) are all fusion welded. Now, if you don’t know what that means, don’t sweat it. It’s a lot of technical talk that, for all intents and purposes, means the master frame is all one piece, and the sashes are one piece. And the multichamber thing means that there are ‘spaces’ inside your frame, reinforced by extra ‘walls’ if you will. This makes the window stronger, more structurally sound, and more thermally efficient.
    • The glass in our windows is 7/8in thick. Each sash has two panes of this glass. Just for perspective, the average double-strength glass is 1/8in thick. Between these panes of glass is a gas to further insulate.

    • This is a cool part. Our windows come with warm-edge spacer technology. This newer technology is basically a fancy little spacer bar that connects the panes of glass. It seals the two panes together with the gas in between, like one of those glass prisons in the crime TV shows. This significantly increases energy efficiency because of how difficult it is for air and temperature to leak through.
    • Then there’s the weatherstripping. You’re probably wondering, “What’s so special about weatherstripping?” This weatherstripping is a special kind called fin seal weatherstripping. Most of the time, weatherstripping is rubber and smooth and bouncy, but a fin seal has all of that plus two extra features. One, is why it’s called a fin seal; it has this extra piece that allows the weatherstripping to be tucked into the window rather than just glued. This keeps it from falling out, which, when it does fall out, becomes practically useless. And two, it’s fuzzy like whale teeth, which ensures a tighter fit.
  • Custom Fit

    • We measure every window fitting in your home, so each window fits perfectly. This is not a one-size-fits-all practice. Every home is unique. Every window is unique. That’s why we do this. When a window is custom-built to the exact right size, it creates a tighter seal between the frame and walls of your home. Tighter seal. Less air leakage.Fewer drafts. More efficiency.
  • Lifetime Warranty

    • We stand behind the quality of our windows, which is why we take a first-hand approach to our lifetime warranty. While most companies punt it off to the manufacturer or a third-party service provider, we are here to support you even after we complete installation, and as a bonus, it’s transferable. So when you sell your home, it will transfer to the new owners.
